Hi Daniella,

The fact that you recognize how this has affected you is a good start.  I went a long time without making connections to my past and did not realize how it affected my present.  You have choices to make and they are yours alone.  You can allow the past abuse to rear its ugly head and affect your life now and in the future or you can heal from the past and essentially start a new life without the baggage.

As you stated, you have a beautiful baby and twins on the way.  The fact that you have others in your life that love you and are there for you should be key in your getting through this difficult time in your life.  Realize that they are not your enemy and the hurt and pain of the past belongs with the perpetrator.  He can no longer hurt you accept if you allow the past to intrude.

Most people do not understand the powerful hold that past abuse can hold over a person.  It can last a lifetime.  It is sad that some people will never be able to overcome it, sometimes because they don't understand it.  Understanding is the first step to overcoming.  The healing starts.  You can do it, you have people in your life who are there and want to see you heal.
