Hi I am Harry. I am 49 and now living alone in London.
I am gay, and the only reason i say that is in case any other posters have a problem with it. That said my best mate is Straight, so i am not your archetyple Gay chap.
I was abused by my Mother in my childhood. Later, as often happens in such cases, i entered into an abusive Adult relationship which has recently ended after 24 years. I am in Therapy and am being treated for PTSD(Complex) and Somatic disorder. In other words my Adult relationship sort of put the tin hat on it, and finally after years of repression my full disorder erupted, and with it my Adult abuser dumped me! It sort of makes sense on account that his "problems" meant the relationship had always been a one way street, and there was absolutely no way he would care for me.
We were living abroad, and i had to travel back to the UK to see my Therapist. Subsequently now i find myself marooned in London Full time in order to be near my Therapist. I am not originally from London and I dont know anyone other than my Therapist. Not suprisingly i get very lonely. Which is sort of awful considering I am ill.
I am doing the best i can, but i would so like to meet someone for an hour a week for a cup of coffee in the park. To me that would be like Manna from heaven. Someone in the same boat. Making the same journey. Or to enter into Penpal, Emails, Txts.
I dont know about others, but i am sure this is a common experience, I am tired of having to be a Psuedo Psychologist and have to explain over and over again my illness. It would be just so great to spend time with someone, where it was possible to almost talk in abbreviations.
My Therapist is great. I am really lucky to have him, but even he understands that I could do with some "real" pals. You know in the real world.
Anyway hopefully someone out there might be interested.
