Hello everyone

Hi,

My name is Jeremy, Jem for short. I am 38 and live in west yorkshire.

I was abused by an uncle for 3 and a half years from the age of 14.

After years of silence, my marriage broke down and I took an overdose to end it all. I survived it.

I then told my Mother about my abuse and also my wife. When I told my brother he told me he had done it to him first back in 1977. We reported it to the police as he was still in a position where he had access to children.

To cut a long story short he was found guilty and was sentenced to 6 months.

I can hold things together for so long, then I start to go down hill. At the moment I am off with stress and depression.

My job is highly stressful, I am a Midwife in a very busy maternity unit.

I would like to talk to anyone about anything, and would hope to find friendship with other people through this forum.

Hiya Jem, Im a newbie in here but you caught my attention.A big hugg for you and your brother for turning in your uncle!! You did the right thing.I was not as brave as you.It took me 45 years to tell someone!! (Im 50)and by that time the statute of limitations was up.You have helped save other children from abuse. I too am in the medical field so I know the stress your under at work.Keep the lines of communication open, dont bottle it up as I did. When I finally spilled my guts,it was like a wave of relief!!Altho we will always have our scars,we can become strong and survive!!  drop me a line when ever ya want to talk...
